I had the same problem with Humana myself. I received a coupon book in February from Humana asking for the January and February premiums. I paid these near the end of February. Then in March, I received notice from Social Security that they would be charging me again for the January and February premiums, but also a March premium.
I was able to get through to Humana, finally, after numerous phone calls. I got through to them early in the morning. And they are going to refund the premiums, that I had already paid, through social security.
E-mail doesn’t work too well. I don’t think they have that under control just yet.
You have to understand that Humana has screwed up with something like a tremendous number of people. So their phone lines and people are really under a lot of pressure.
I just asked my M-I-L the same question. She swears her $6.85 premium is NOT coming out of her SS check and she has not paid Humana directly. I called them a few weeks ago and they assured me it is coming out of the check. Sounds like it’s a glitch in their system.
Since Medicare cut off is 5/15, I would expect Humana to be very busy. Wait until 5/20 and give a call. I did put them on speaker phone and went about cooking my dinner until someone picked up.
Medicare charges $88.50 per month for the Medicare Part B premium.
